Happy Hunter’s Moon

The winds are changing both physically and spiritually. Embracing this shift will help us thrive and gather what we need in this season of reflection. Before we dive in, I want to share a personal note. Unfortunately, I’ve had to cancel our women’s circle for this moon. I will deeply miss sharing space with my sisters, but I’ve had a minor, unexpected surgical biopsy this week, and with many unavoidable activities ahead, I need to prioritize rest. I’m sharing this because I believe it is important to listen to our body. As disappointing as it is, this is what I need right now. I hope this encourages you to also listen to what your body is asking for and to take time to embrace the energy of this moon. The Meaning Behind October’s Full Moon

October’s Full Moon, known as the Hunter’s Moon, is steeped in historical and spiritual significance. It is the first Full Moon after the Autumnal Equinox. This marks a shift from summer’s energetic light to autumn’s quieter energy. Historically, the Hunter’s Moon symbolized abundance, preparation, and preservation. Communities used its light to hunt and gather what they needed before winter. The bright, long-lasting moonlight allowed hunters to stalk game, crucial for survival during the months when food became scarce.

But beyond its practical significance, the spiritual meaning of the Hunter’s Moon runs much deeper. This Full Moon signals a time for inner work and reflection. It is a moment to slow down and assess the growth and lessons of the past months. As the dark half of the year begins, we are invited to welcome stillness, quiet, and the metaphorical darkness that comes with introspection. Just as our ancestors gathered their harvest, we are encouraged to harvest the wisdom we’ve gained. We store it in our hearts and prepare for the internal transformation that winter brings.

In Celtic traditions, Samhain marks the start of the new year. It is a time when the physical and spiritual worlds are closest. The thinning veil offers a chance to connect with loved ones who have passed. It allows us to gain insights from the spirit world and engage in divination practices for our spiritual journey. The energy of the Hunter’s Moon brings both an end and a beginning. It is a time to honor what has passed, release what no longer serves, and make space for new growth.

October’s Full Moon reminds us of the natural cycles of life. The mating season for animals like deer and elk reflects the rhythms of life, death, and renewal. We are encouraged to honor our connection to the earth, embrace the changing seasons, and prepare for the inner work that the quiet half of the year requires.

It’s a perfect time to reflect on what we’ve achieved and what we still want to pursue. Like our ancestors, we are reminded that preparation, whether physical, mental, or spiritual, is essential for survival, growth, and transformation.

Astrological Significance: Aries Energy

This October Full Moon falls in the fiery sign of Aries, the first sign of the zodiac. Aries energy is all about taking action, boldness, and stepping into your power. As we move into this lunar phase, you may feel an urge to assert your independence, pursue new goals, and release any fears or hesitations holding you back. Aries, ruled by Mars, carries a strong competitive and dynamic energy, encouraging you to face your challenges head-on and take the bold actions necessary to manifest your deepest desires.

During this Full Moon, reflect on where you’ve been holding back. Aries energy can lead to personal breakthroughs if you’re willing to confront your fears and take action. Pay close attention to your emotions and instincts, as they’ll reveal where changes need to happen in your life—whether in relationships, personal projects, or self-care routines. This is a time to set clear boundaries, embrace your passions, and embody confidence in your choices.

Find what your soul desires and “Hunt” for it from within. Be mindful of the contradicting messages on reflection and going for it. Find the balance between them and use this time to make a plan of action rather than getting burnt out on chasing after it.
