In April, I had the privilege of hosting a retreat that brought together an incredible group of women. The weekend was filled with connection, relaxation, and personal growth. As we reflect on these enriching experiences, the timing couldn’t be more perfect with the arrival of the May Full Moon. Known as the Flower Moon, this full moon is a reminder of growth and renewal. Just as the world around us bursts into bloom, so should we. It is a time to open ourselves to new beginnings and possibilities. In 2024, the Flower Moon will grace our skies on May 23rd, reaching its peak at 9:53 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. Let’s take a look at the science, Nature, and spiritual messages from the May Full Moon.

The Message of the Flower Moon
Nature:
First, look at the messages that Mother Nature is showing us. Springtime is alive with blooming herbs and flowers, wildlife is thriving all around us—from the singing birds and the playful squirrels in the trees to the buzz of bees and of course, the presence of rabbits, known for their fertility. This abundance of life perfectly aligns with the season of Beltane, a time celebrated for growth and new beginnings. For those considering conception, this full moon offers promising energy. However, if baby-making is not in your plans it’s also a time to reflect on personal growth and internal renewal. It is a time to discover what in your life feels abundant and identify areas that need more attention to flourish. Like the gardeners nurture their plants, we must tend to the various aspects of our lives, supporting and enriching them to thrive. In doing so, we move away from striving for ‘perfection’ and instead, towards embracing our unique individuality and the natural progress of personal evolution.
Spiritual:
Next, we can look into the spiritual meaning of the Flower Moon. The spiritual essence of this full Moon revolves around love, joy, and celebration. It’s a powerful period for setting intentions that harness the Moon’s magical energy to bring about abundance, pleasure, romance, fertility, laughter, and fun. The Moon is reminding us of the importance of play. The sun is warming our skin and hearts, Focus on the heart chakra and allow more love for self and others to grow. Make time for the wild playful women in you to come out to play.
Astrology:
Lastly, this Flower Moon finds itself in the adventurous and philosophical sign of Sagittarius. This alignment fills the air with optimism, freedom, and the courage to explore new paths. It’s an excellent time for Sagittarians and all signs to reassess and recommit to long-term aspirations, travel dreams, and personal beliefs.
Embrace the Full Flower Moon
Crystal Healing with Moonstone: Moonstone is an excellent crystal for aligning with the Flower Moon. Known for its connection to intuitive and feminine energies, moonstone enhances emotional balance and helps to open the heart to nurturing qualities as well as assisting in the acceptance of love. The stone’s association with the moon makes it a natural choice for rituals during the full moon, especially one that celebrates fertility and growth.
Tea Ritual: Create a soothing ritual by brewing a cup of herbal tea that includes ingredients like lavender or chamomile, which are linked with relaxation and clarity. As you sip your tea, reflect on the growth you wish to cultivate in your life.
Heart Chakra Meditation: Focus on opening and balancing your heart chakra. This can be an impactful practice during the Flower Moon, as it helps to foster love, compassion, and well-being, which aligns with the themes of this lunar phase.
Time for Play and Joy: Dedicate time to activities that bring you joy and laughter. Whether it’s dancing, singing, or exploring nature, engaging in playful actions can stimulate creativity and invigorate your spirit.
Nature Journaling: Spend time outdoors and write or sketch in a nature journal. This practice can help you connect more deeply with the natural world and the energy of the Flower Moon, while also providing a space to express personal reflections and inspirations.
Journaling to the Flower Moon
Journaling can be a profound way to internalize the Moon’s messages. Here are five prompts to guide your reflections:
